Have been pretty tied up with work but I made it a metal detecting weekend. I've been driving to the coast to get some colonial detecting here in NC and I'm dying to find a king George or Spanish silver. No luck yet but at least I think I'm getting a few relics. If you know, please help me ID on age of the items pictured. Besides the coins, I'm really not sure

Something I've run into is detecting 18th century houses has proved tough for me. The AT pro Is pretty good in iron audio I guess but with a blanket of nails and trash I have a hard time getting anything below a few inches. If it's old it's just been a miracle that it was shallow.

My two big questions are:
1 what's the best way to clean the dandy button so that I can make out the detail. It has a rotary design like a flower or wheel
2 is the smaller silver colored button old or just off a jean jacket or something

Thanks for looking and for your responses!!

Try soaking it in mineral oil. It will break up the corrosion and not harm the button. I use this for all my indian heads and old wheats that start out green
