the road crews have reclosed the open strech of 95 year old road they had uncovered already ---geez -- but now for the good news -- there was a civil war skrimish just down the road -- a rather small fight --so the state hasn't closed off the site kinda marshy so no homes on the site just a nice lil creek bank --marshy kinda area --the local SCV has put up a "marker" about the skrimish but unless you stop to read it it means nada -- and the spot is a place most folks whiz by at 50 mph so all the "brass" plate does is tell me where to start looking at -- the plates brand new -- gotta get my hunting buddy to go and hit this spot before the word gets out

yep sounds like a great spot few would think of, go slow and then go back over it especially after heavy rains when the ground changes and starts to dry out again.

no way I'd wait for rain --- this place is soft & somewhat muddy even now --one of the reasons the battle took place there actually was its marshiness -- union foot troops vs rebal calvary & foot -- the union troops were chased 3 miles crossed the small river -- turned and held the far bank --the horses of the rebs were happered by the soft muddy area -- after some the union troops set up an ambush 200 yards up the road the other union" fell back" luring the reb calvary in -- they crossed the stream in hot pursuit and rode into the ambush -- the rebs then retreated back down the road away from the union troops and the union troops went back to their camp several miles up the road (in terms of numbers killed, wounded and missing this action was the most deadly battle in duval co. fla (jacksonville) during the war .

Good luck and git er done! HH, Mike
