Hi all, bit of a change from my usual metal detecting video this weekend. Today I made a video to highlight the dangers that lurk out there waiting for us detectorists to stick our spades in.

I took a trip to a local beach to me which has a serious problem with old bombs, this beach is not really popular however the two beaches to the north and south are and bombs regularly wash up at them.

Check out my video, its quite shocking what is on a public beach, remember folks, stay safe and if an object looks suspicious please don't touch it.

So a practice area, is that why the authorites are not bothered about clearing them?

you would think the area would be restricted from public access and the military would clean it up as best they could if the ordinance is live

Also when returning from a mission, pilots needed an area to dump live munitions before landing.

FYI, the site of the former FFA CERAP (Air Traffic Flight Control) located within Honolulu's Diamond Head Crater was a practice range still containing Pre-WWII and WWII live munitions (bombs, grenades, and the like) into year 2002 and later.

Hi all again, a little info for you guys :)

The site was used for bombing practice for ww2 right through to the 80's so you can imagine how much ordinance was dropped there.

The site used to be quite a long way from the sea but being on one of the fastest eroding coastlines in the world has meant that the sea is now biting into the old range.

The majority of shells here are practice rounds although there are some real ones thrown in the mix too, the practice rounds are not inert either, they have a small amount of explosive in them that is still capable of causing serious injury.

The mod bomb disposal team are regularly down there blowing up in a controlled way the new shells that have revealed themselves.

In 2012 there was a big land slip of cliff which resulted in around 1000 bombs tumbling to the beach it took bomb disposal days to clear up.

This beach is not that tourist orientated however a couple of miles either way the beaches are and these things regularly wash up on the beaches.

Here is a link to the 2012 incident if anyone fancies a read

That is so freaking cool to watch. Want to see them explode these in a controlled environment. Thanks for sharing.

No worries thanks for watching :) to be honest the controlled explosions are not as exciting as you would imagine, smaller charges to set them off and all covered in loads of big sand bags, there is just a dull thud and a load of dust lol
