Have been to this wooded site 2x before, thinking there had to be something going on there, but came up with just a few brass doodads and many shotgun shells and bullets. Today was different, started out finding a 3 Cent Silver which made me go into thorough mode. After another 1/2 hour came a large cent... then an hour later, "the mother load"... started finding 3 cent nickels and more three cent silver pieces, dimes, half dimes (maybe 1/2 reales) more large cents, half cents then this 1834 Half Dollar... i brushed it off with soap and water and its a gem. Have to admit, i felt a little guilty finding all this stuff... its like 30 lifetime finds in a few hours .... there were no Indian heads, so this was probably pre-cw or thereabouts.

Update, including Day 2: Dont judge a book by its cover... cleaned the dirt off these coins... seems to be a wider spread in dates and some post CW. 11 Large Cents, 2 Two Cent pcs., 9 Three Cent Nickels, 7 Three Cent Silvers, 4 Half Dimes, 1 Dime, 5 Canadian silvers. Why so many 3 Cent pieces?

That's a great site but I'm with some others here that believe there would be more big iron around a logging camp. Depending on the size of the operation there may have been an associated "company store"

Wow that is just an insane number of amazing finds. Some major (dropsy clumsy drunky) commerce going on there! Congrats!

Nice Job!!!Great coins ,
.When you're finished detecting you should really consider sifting under where the coins were found. Good luck!!:icon_thumleft:
