Day 2 at New Site: 18th Century Jew's Harp + Buttons

KKC got out yesterday to the cornfield that we hit last week. The farmer had cut more of the crop, so we could get in some new areas of the field. I didn't get any coins, but I did get my first complete 18th century Jew's harp. :hello2: It is made of brass. This relic is another indicator as to when this site was settled. There has been some debate, but due to the artifacts dug over the past two trips, we can officially date the site to the 18th century (1780s-1790s).

I also got a nicely designed Colonial button in the heart of the iron patch. I ended the day with six buttons, pewter spoon piece, and the Jew's harp. It was an enjoyable evening spent with my brother and uncle. We will re-load next week with a new site.

The last two pictures are my totals from the site in two detecting trips. :icon_thumleft:

Keep the passion high! :headbang:

Kirk :hello:

Thank you as always, my good man. I haven't seen many of these dug in the past few months. I am patiently waiting for a post from BuckleBoy LA. :laughing9:

Great looking Jews harp... :icon_thumright:

Is that a one or two piece eagle button? Kinda looks like a smashed two piece? ???

It is a typical CW-era General service button. Thank you for your reply.

Pretty awsome, totally intact Jews Harp :headbang: Not a common find and one that I would display proudly.
There has got to be a shoe buckle in the dirt there some where.

I can't wait to dig my first complete frame to a Colonial shoe buckle. I am living for that day, my friend.

Kirk, I would take the Jews Harp or that killer button over most any copper that might turn up on a site like that. You had a great day. Should be good hunting there next sppring after the plowing.

I did get really excited over finding the Jew's harp. It is a unique find for sure. If the farmer plows the field, we should get some more coppers and buttons. We will re-load though new sites for next year. We have to hit 'em and get 'em.
