Team Crusader were back on the hunt & stepped it up a gear & did 6 hours instead of the normal 4ish. (12 man hours) Condition were as go as I could ask for, flat as a pancake. :)

First Picture:
(for Shaun, the lead, buttons & roman pottery - all good signs  )

We had a good day with the following:

7 scrappy romans (best 1 day total this year)
Large Medieval Lead Cloth Seal
17th century Jetton
1658 John Boram Haverhill, Suffolk Token
Medieval Lead bird feeder

My best find of the day, almost complete Medieval Heraldic Horse Pendant in the shape of a Wild Boar. Pretty sure its unpublished & a type I have never seen ;D
Another of my Fav's a little Tudor button (pyramid shaped) - only have about 2 of these.
Short-cross cut Quarter Hammered :) (2 hammered in 2 days)

Just shows what the right conditions can do, however this is still not one of our best fields.

Re: Day 7 - Barley Field 2.....

Sounds like you had an awesome hunt to me! :)

Re: Day 7 - Barley Field 2.....

Interesting finds. :)

Keep us informed on the "Wild boar" pendant.

Big bunch of finds there. The heraldic horse pendant is must have made you smile. Funny looking it is, yep.
Even though that is not one of your best fields there must be some roman silvers lying there somewhere dont you think?

I've already emailed a Cambridge Professor about it

Didn't the followers of one of the kings in the war of the roses wear boar badges ?.

Yeah, rings a bell, but can't put my finger on it :icon_scratch:

Nice finds - another great day out for the team. Crusaders and Boars - I don't know why but it reminds me of Asterix and Obelix

UPDATE:

Just got a reply from the leading collector of Horse Pendants:

That certainly looks medieval. The only 'badge' type pendants I have myself
are dubiously heraldic - e.g. fleurs-de-lys and escallops - whereas yours
is probably an heraldic badge.

So he hasn't seen one & I have searched hard to find a similar without success

Nice pendant...the cut quarter's a good sign were theres hammered that small and that date (short x) usually produces more hammered coinage, cut quarters are usually associated with trading

that dagger looking thing with the curly end looks like something out of a jet li movie. is the lead piece by the coins a seal for a tin ? I found something similar here.

If you mean the one in the top right of the picture, its a Late Medieval Cloth Seal. For sealing bundles of cloth for quality & tax purposes.
