December 2011 "Relic Rescue" Hunt Finds Glebe Farm, Culpeper Virginia

We had yet another fantastic Relic Rescue Civil War hunt on the Glebe farm in beautiful Culpeper Virginia. These hunts are incredibly fantastic and very well organized. Thank you David Willingham for another laid back and successful hunt. We started the hunt Friday morning with the infamous Minelab GPX units. The morning air was crisp, and on the chilly side, but quickly warmed up. It didn't take long to dig my first target, a NY Staff coat sized button followed by a nicely strong gilted Union Eagle button. The heart breaker of the day was the broken tongue and wreath buckle shown in the last pic. I gridded the area thoroughly sadly to no avail looking for the rest of what could have been a Confederate NC Buckle. (seeing I was seaching a North Carolina Confederate Camp) All in all, I am so very impressed with these hunts, and how laid back they are. An awesome lunch was served Sunday afternoon for the attendees. I can't wait to go back to the next relic Rescue hunts! I imagine you worked that area pretty intently after finding that Wreath belt attachment... MAN, what a heartbreaker!! Looks like it was a fun hunt and with the lower

number of people as opposed to other organized hunts, I'm sure that made it very enjoyable and fun to hunt and not be crowded out. Congratulations to Dave W. on another successful

Thanks Josh.. Yes The Relic Rescue hunts are top notch. It is very refreshing to be able to swing the machine without being bombarded with EMI missiles lol

Some nice finds there Mike. That gilted Eagle is a beauty, tough to find gilted GS buttons. So no one else found the rest of that tongue?

A lot of times both the North and South were in sight of each other. They often moved on, and the opposite sides would take over. This particular camp was occupied by the NC Calvary. The Calvary moved around a lot on thicket patrol and such. I wish they had huts there, I would surely had been digging them out. Thanks for looking!

Looks like you had a great hunt! It sure seems like you always find quite the flock of birds.

And now I have regrets that I did not follow through and sign up for that hunt when you mentioned it a few weeks ago.
