Decent machine for salt water beach?

"Lightweight" is the only problem with the excal and cz-21. Honestly the CTX is the best balanced machine out there for beach detecting. You can rear mount the Excal ans CZ but they are still quite heavier than the ctx.

The Excal and CZ-21 are heavier to stand the water pressure for diving to 200 feet.:occasion14:

Excal is easier to swing in the water, 3030 has more resistance. I hunt using a harness on both detectors, eliminates the weight issue on both.

Spent three weeks in the Cocoa Beach area with my Tesoro Sand Shark and it was money well worth spent. Was going to use my at pro but too many chattering signals. Talking to the folks that go to the beach almost everyday they said that their pick is the Excalibur or the Sand Shark. I found everything and some very deep. There is no discrimination but I did not really care on the beach. Set all the controls in the 1 o clock position and learn the machine. Bought mine from Big Boys at a cost of approx. 650. Remember that it is a hard wired PI machine. Another area that is super important is the scoop. I used a 100 scoop and it was just fair. Many of the folks were using the stealth 920 scoop. They are really pricey but they really do the job. Enjoy the sand and water running thru your shoes!

Check out a White's Duel Field Surf PI machine. Waterproof to about 300ft. New less than $1k. But you can shop for a good used one much cheaper.

Yes I know this but for someone who never plans on doing anything but wet sand and occasionally waist deep walking they weigh a lot to be lugging around out of the water. You can buy a used ctx with warranty for about what an you will have in a modded excal (depending on what all you add).
