I found this at an 1830's Louisiana plantation today. The hole at the top is threaded.
Is this a finial of some sort. Even reminds me of a fire poker. But just not sure so I thought I'd post it up and get feedback.

The object being made of thick solid-cast brass, and ornately decorated, and its size, perfect for holding in the four curled fingers of a closed hand, and the size of the threaded hole in its end, strongly indicate that a fire-poker's handle is the correct ID.
