Metal Detecting
I'm from the Peoria Metropolitan Area. I have been metal detecting around properties where old farmhouses are/were, as well as around sites where old buildings used to be (an old schoolhouse and an old train depot, to be specific). I'm wondering what places around this area would be good sites to detect around or if I should keep up with what I am doing as I haven't had much luck as far as pulling coinage from the ground is concerned (though I'm also learning to use a new detector as well). I haven't detected any parks around the area, though I'm not sure if detecting is allowed in any of them. I've also been considering hunting around a couple of ghost towns which are now farm fields and wooded areas on private property, which I imagine would be good places to check for coinage, but I will need to obtain permission first from the property owners concerned.
