Hello to all
I am new to the sight and was refered by Lost dutchman hobbiests to this sight for info. I must tell you I am about as green as one can get, but I guess if you dont ask you cant learn.
I have always been interested in metal detecting and am quite confused as to what brand etc. Some posters on some sights say it is not necessary to spend a grand on one with all the bells and whistles, and others say if you start with a "starting unit" you might have to upgrade eventually. My mother-in-law has a Whites MTX I believe. It appears to be nice machine although I guess whites has another model above it that is more money. Someone else has told me to check out the Garrett line with all their bells and whistles. To the average joe they both seem like good companies and good models, but is one better than the other or is it personal choice? Warranty? I would love to coin and jewelry hunt, but do not want to purchase a starter unit and work up. Is whites & garretts top of the line worth purchasing and if so which one is rated higher?
Now that I have firmly established my ignorance,
, does anyone have any advice?
thanks in advance
