Did some MD'g recon today over in TEXAS Connections area.. pic hvy
Now get this. I had never seen his profile page b4. When I got home I uploaded my pics and was going to send TC a PM. So I went to his profile page and (see his pics) Can you say twilight zone!!!
This is not out on any highway, but down a real back county road.
Those aren't bullet holes. There was a Historical Commission plaque attached...
and a close up so the folks can see the verbage...
and I'm sure you went on around the bend....
This is Port Sullivan Cem. It seems the only reason some of this was cleaned up was because the state posted a historical sign out front fairly recently. They sure let this great old cemetery run down. There were very cool stones scattered out in the weeds and
broken markers. I guess the same damn vandals that removed the plaque from the historical marker defaced a lot of these. What a shame!
This one really caught my eye...
And under the FM485 bridge...Brazos River, running hi, but dropping. Port Sullivan was just up river about .5 miles from here.
We GOT to get some permission to MD where the old town was. There was over 1000 population in Port Sullivan at one time. All back behind where the historical marker was, out in what is now just oak and mesquite.
What a beautiful day in the neighborhood!
