Got a new permission today 5 minutes from my house. The house on the property dates back to the late 1600"s and when the owner said it would be ok to detect the property my hopes were high until the property owner told me it was already detected from somebody in a metal detecting club. I didn't find much but at least I got out to swing my detector and get some good exercise in.

Slow, easy and thorough will find you more, based on my experience. I have also found a few old coppers that other detectorists had missed because their machine told them it was iron and they didn't dig. The copper was underneath the iron.
