Difference between a DD coil and a Concentric ??

Can somone please explain the difference between a DD coil and a concentric coil? What does DD stand for?

I researched this on the internet , but would like a simpler explanation.

My new DFX comes with a concentric coil, is this a advantage?

I shall try.

The concentric design might be a bit deeper where there are few minerals. (Low mineralization)
Though thanks to how it's electro magnetic field pattern is you need to overlap your sweep.
The field pattern looks similar to a "V" in a concentric coil.

The DD (Double D) coil sends down a "thin" electro magnetic field and it has a "square" pattern like this |_|
It sees fewer minerals and as such goes deeper in grounds with much minerals (High mineralization)

The DFX standard coil is fine.

Concentric is the opposite of eccentric, which means "off center".
