"DIGGING AT A DRYING UP LAKE" PICS AND FINDS

Hi all,Southern Australia has had less an inch of rain in the 11 weeks and the local lake has slowly been dropping.I have been watching the water level for a while :o :o :o The lake was hand-dug in 1854 for gold puddling machines that line the back of lake in which is only a few yards from the creek.later on the lake was used for different types of activities.Once had a public bath and a rowing club.Well i have only a small area to work at the moment as the water level needs to drop a few more feet.the area i decided to dig is the part of the lake that has little human activity since 1900"s.Its very smelly and the water birds seem to enjoy it.I found a couple of nice pottery bottles and cake-fork.

Only had about a hour as the days are staring to get shorter and the sun goes down at 9 pm.Heres some pics of the finds.

Nice bottles! Gold puddling?? Is that like panning for gold? Maybe you find a nice nugget or two.
