Well it was a little chilly out , and calling for sprinkles but with nothing to do I was dying to get out of the house. Made a visit to see Ms. Charlene and aarr. Charlene had work to do and is not fond of cold weather, but aarr was up for the hunt  So we loaded up the detectors and returned to a field we had recently obtained permission to hunt. Before I kept heading to the woods along the train tracks but this time I decided to start scanning the field. Aarr and I worked together as a team heading to the far back corner with the plan of working a long diagonal S pattern to cover every inch. We started detecting and in the first 30 yards I had a hit at 6 inch's, so i started to dig it , pulled up the plug as aarr makes the comment " Go ahead dig that pull tab " I cracked the dirt in half and there lies a rather large copper coin. Ha Ha I was elated cleaned it up a bit and determined it was an 1844 LC in pretty rough shape. After detecting for an hour or so I got another hit on the opposite side of the field "Got no smart comments this time " :laughing7: Pulled the plug out started searching for it and I got a text message  lol aarr crouched down and started looking as we are good friends and a find is a find...I put my phone in my pocket crouched beside him and he opened his hand with a clod of dirt in it and i saw it, another copper coin even larger than the LC but the coin is in bad shape and even after cleaning it we don't know what it is.

Weight of 1844 LC
8.6 grams /133 grain
27 1/2mm

Weight of unknown
7.3 grams/113 grain
28mm

Thanks for sharing the story and photos, Good luck with identification. Keep em coming. :icon_thumright:

Let's get the story straight, you and AARR came in my office and said "whatcha doing?" I replied..."sigh...working". I heard the door close and watched both of you dipping and weaving to the truck with the detectors :tongue3:

I went back later with AARR and he found 3 bullets within a few minutes.

Me...I didn't find anything but a smile. Its always fun to see the excitement in people when they make those awesome digs! Congrats. See you in the fields.

Nice finds .... congrats !
