Interesting that CNN only wants to name "authorities" in the article. This guy deserves the credit for the find and he will never get it. He will forever be known as the "amateur", and some know it all will get the credit for the find. Of course he may have wanted to remain anonymous but I doubt it.

From the article:

"A hobby paleontologist looked at a construction site for a house and happened to discover the bones," said Monica Ruembeli from the Frick dinosaur museum."

So, if he buys the house the property is his. He'll get the credit and the dinos to boot. ;)

I would think "hobby paleontologist" was an insulting term. I would rather be called a "fossil collector", or "amature archeologist". In reality they will probably just take the land or prohibit him from doing anything to his property through injunction, dig the stuff up and not give him anything. Money or credit for the find.

Well, if he has any real education at all as a palentologist he should know how the game works and maybe he'll be able to find the legal loopholes that give him the credit for his discovery and maybe ownership too.

He should have kept his mouth closed until it was all said and done. That's what researchers do. They don't talk about, don't reveal, don't brag, not even hint, about what they are doing, until they submit for publication. Then once it's published nobody can do anything to take it.

Right, like I said if he had any education....lol
