Dirt Fishing-"The one's that didn't get away!"

I am new to MD'ing, as a couple of work mates of mine, and me and my husband, have all started a new hobby together. We have fun, even on the days we are not finding many keepers-we just love dirt fishing! My husband and I spent several hours in a couple of local parks yesterday, and here are our findings. . . MAYBE my first GOLD! (There are marking on the piece, but the writing is too small to make it out) some newer coins, although they don't look it, a couple of old keys, some bullet casings-they appear to be copper????, and a couple of old tokens. One is marked Celebration Station and looks to be copper. I am not finding this particular token on the internet to compare mine to, so if anyone has any further information on it, I would appreciate your feedback. Thanks for looking at my newbie finds! :blob7:

Re: Dirt Fishing-"The one's that didn't get away!"

Nice haul for a few hours at the park :icon_thumright:, you had to have dug a lot of hits to find that many coins with all the trash you find in parks. Way to go!

Hey Amyz;
Celebration Station was a kid's entertainment place. Think Chuck E. Cheese. I think that they were pre-Ch. E. Chs. though.
My wife works for the man that owned them. There used to be one in Merrillville, in. that they bulldozed several years ago. I remember my wife telling me that there were one or two others in the US, but I don't remember where, and I believe that they are all long gone.

Your token would have been used to feed the arcade games.

I'm curious as to where it was found, and how far it had traveled.

*It was found in Brunswick, Ga. in a local park. I saw some similiar tokens on ebay, but none with this symbol on the front. Also, the ones for Chuck E Cheese had his character printed on them, this one did not. On the back it stated For Replay Only......Any additional info you know/learn about it would be great to know! THANKS!

Nice finds, Your Fishing? No Your Hooked.
You can use you Digital Camera to enlarge very small print. Chances are you will do alot of pics to get one clear enough to read some of the tiny print on even some of the smallest items. I have found that it works better then a loop because you can see all of it at the same time.
Good Luck
Kevin

I tried this wonderful tip you have taught me, and attached are photos of that area of the earring where the stamped numbers are. I think I can make it out now, but wanted your opionion on what you thought it said first....Let me know your thoughts!

Looks to me like it is P 223. I do not know what that would be. Gold Plate maybe? Not sure.

I thought it said .923 (or 5) which I read that 24 k gold is usually stamped .926 when using this numeric method of stamping. I know it's not metal because it does not respond to a magnet. I really think it's gold!

Not all gold is marked as 24k or 12k, The same number system can also be used for Gold as is for Sliver.
The Higher the Number the Higher Gold Content.
