It looks like one, only one way to tell, take a core sample.

Are those trees or bushes on top? It certainly looks like a mound, but it looks a lot bigger than even the big mound at Moundville, West Virginia.

A mound that big in an open area has probably been named/recorded. Maybe do a google search for large mounds in the county where it's from to see if it's mentioned?

them are hemlock trees on the other side the farmer has a house next to them trees

i haven't never heard anyone talk about it its bout a mile from my house i live in fayette county wv

it has a sunk in place on one side of it i should have took some more picks but i didn't feel like walking around the field i was probably 200 yards from it when i took that pic the fields around it is mostly flat

no its all farm land

Ask some questions locally. It may be a large trash pile. Trash=treasure! I would think a mound that size would be marked.

i'm gonna talk to the farmer before long see what he knows about it i know there has been a lot of arrowheads and other stuff found around here over the years. one of my dads friends had a big trunk full of stuff i wish i could have gotten it after he passed away

Looks a mite big for a mound, but could be. Also could be the "high ground" the natives camped on.

its not as big as ya thank it is i was about 200 yards or more when i took the pic and i was on the down hill side of it

mound 001.webpi would say its a lot smaller then the one at moundsville

Scale is a hard thing to judge in pictures. That's why I was wondering about the size of the trees on top. If they were 20 feet tall, then the mound would probably be too large to be a mound.

The big mound at Moundsville is 60 feet or so high, what would you guess the height of potential mound is? The base looks big.

somewhere between 30 some to 40 some feet tall

when my back feels better i'm gonna walk back over there and get some more pics

The size does not make a mound or not, it was the size of the tribe that made the mound or how many tribes used it. I have the 2nd largest mound 5mi from my home. It is a mound with two mounds on top of it, it is over 75yrds wide and 250yrds long, it had a plaza and two temple mounds, it's called Emerald mound. I will get some photos soon and post them, just over in La. is where the 2nd tallest mound was till it was pushed down for dirt to build a church, it was a 2 level mound with a cone shape top, it's called troyville. Never seen anything like it except when uncle sam had me take a little trip to Indonesia and south America. I have local mounds that are burial mounds no more than 15ft tall and 40ft long.

I doubt that is a mound unless it was found in context with other mounds in that area. Location is everything.

Should be some borrow pits nearby, or at least sign of the earth being altered to come up with the material to make a mound that big.
