Was at a bank yesterday picking up some cents to feed my Ryedale. Young lady in line in front of me goes to the teller, and I overhear "I'm sorry, but if you don't have an account, I can't take those." She's trying to cash in some rolled coin. Hmmmm.
She turns around, and I notice she has an almost desperate look on her face. She obviously needs the money from the coins, so I ask her what she has. She tells me about $200 in rolled coins. I offer to buy them, and it turns out she has $96.00 worth. I give her the money, and wait for my turn at the teller. They know I do coins, so when I'm getting the cent boxes two tellers offer me their halves from their trays. I'll take those too.
I get to the car, and $10.50 in halves nets me one 40. Better odds than my bags lately. I get home after running some errands, and go through the rolled coin. All rolls are correct, and I score one '64 Rosie. Two silvers in one day. Feels good to help a young damsel in distress.
I pick up today's 1K bag of halves. Obviously somebody's dumps. But fortunately for me, it's someone's coin collection. Twelve 40's and a '64 Ken to match yesterday's Rosie.
What's that old Boy Scout phrase? Do a good turn daily. I'm sure glad I did.
