the saturday morning crack of dawn door banger parade of "religious" folks need not stop by my place --if they do they get to see my almost 200 year old "family" bible that I'm the guardian of --- it has lots of information and stuff so called "modern bibles" are missing -- I asked them do you know what is the punishment in the bible for knowingly teaching from a altered bible? --that your name be striken from the book of life --thats what --where are the missing books from your new "altered" bible ? --- now that you know the fact that your bible has been altered ---teach no more faslehood from it and be gone from me. --- worked like a charm--- never seen or heard from em again .

My Brother Norm answered the door wearing nothing but cowboy boots and a smile ,
when he asked "Can I help you, Ladies?"

They never came back.

A simple "not interested" usually is all it takes here with one exception. When I was still a single parent (to four kids), a young couple knocked on the door, explained their business to which I replied " cool, he sent you to clean my house!" , they looked past the entry.....then left.

(My house was what I refer to as "guy clean", clean enough for the five second rule but not clean enough for Grandma  )

EDIT: I have nothing against those who feel strongly in their beliefs as long as mutual respect is maintained, in other words, go ahead and ask if I`m willing to listen but respect my decision when I say no.

I always wondered what they would do if someone came out looking possesed.....would there god be enough...or would they loose there nerve.......
1986 .... 6'1"tall ,268 lbs , full beard and shoulder length hair . After 16 hrs underground addressing a coal mine emergency I was
stripped to just jean cutoffs and turning through the bathroom door for a much needed shower when someone knocked on my door .
Typical mixed group that had parked at the bottom of my long drive and walked up to my house to share the 'True Way' with me on a fine Sunday morning .
Opening the door and stepping out I said ," Y'all are early for the party , but c'mon in and get naked and I'll get rid of these shorts . Ain't no reason why we can't start before the others get here ."

Last I heard of that group was the sound of butt cheeks smacking together as they fled down my drive to their car .

Penny candy was a penny, black and white TV's that you had to walk accross the room to change channel. The dimmer/bright light switch was on the floor to the left of all the pedals. No automatic door at the grocery store. Two room schools, out houses, pee cans under the bed. Ironing boarded before there was wash and wear. Wood burning cook stoves. Ringer washing machines. Caster oil. Am I going to fast for you. Ah ya, memories. Those were the good old day. Oh oh, I'm living in the GOOD OLD DAYS. A hard drive is something you did all day and night. A ram is something you drove. A CD was an investment. Memory is something you have of things past. If you have a three and a half inch floppy, you hope no one finds out. You have the same amount of hair and teeth as when you were six months old. You drewel as much but don't remember it.

Hio: It might surprise you but most are still the same. Unfortunately we have moved out of knowing our neighbors etc to isolating ourselves in apparent protection. Lately I have made a it a point to go out of my way to kid and joke with strangers that I have never seen before nor will ever see again.

After a moment of surprise, they ALL have responded with a smile and looked a bit more relaxed. When I see a person sitting in a wheel chair being pushed I ask "how do you rate and I don't"? always with a smile, They generally look a bit startled then come back with a remark and a huge smile.

I even kid the check out clerks etc ., they always respond with a smile also and "do" appreciate a simple thanks for their fast (???) service.

In other words, I have found that people are just as friendly as ever once that barrier is penetrated, , but have forgotten how to interact with each other and retreat behind a protective cover, especially in the larger cities..

Now how do I get behind that cover with our sinlge gals in here? Married ones have jealous hubbies, sigh. As for ivan, he is ---well, ----------- 5th-------------.
