Yes, there is at least one like that, that I've seen. A friend of mine uses it, and swears by it. But I don't know the name or brand or whatever. Maybe someone else will chime in with that info.

I have had occasions where one cup goes out (wire disconnected), so that I'm only hearing from a single cup. It drove me mad, and I didn't like only hearing from one cup (whether or not the dead cup covered my ear, or I moved it to the side). But my friend says that his model of single cup headphone solves the problem, by somehow having both ear-piece sounds come through the single cup (like stereo or something?). That didn't make sense to me, but he did insist that it is not the same as having a 2-cup headphone, with one cup removed or dead, and that it had some sort of enhancement to it.

Gray Ghost makes a headphone called the rattler that is just what you are describing. Do a google search or check your favorite detector site and you will see what they look like.

Killer B's also make a set. They sell new for about $67. Check to tonyinct.

I saw them at Radio Shack yesterday. Just noticed them, sorry I didn't notice the price.

a friend of mine and fellow detector gave me a pair he made from Jolly Rogers, not sure how he did it but I love them and don't feel like such a dork anymore walking around with one cup on and one off.

as a safety issue -- I say one earphones are the way to go -- keeps you aware of whats going on around you --- is a rattle snake buzzing in front of you in the tall grass ---or is a two legged snake trying to slip up on you from behind ? either way the single ear models could be a life saver esp. for those who hunt solo in remote or bad areas. ---- the "rattler" by grey ghost are reported by many to be good and just might keep you from bumping into one be it the normal snake or the two legged type --- Ivan

Something like this....

Unless they go over the top of the head, ones that just clip over the ear always seem to get pulled off. I don't know if this is anyone else's experience. I might have to save up for a Rattler. I was wondering if anyone had any experience modifying a pair that had two earpieces into a headphone with one? I know they make cheap ones with one earpiece for things like drive-thru headsets, but they don't keep the background noise out and would be pretty worthless as detecting headphones. Plus, the end of them doesn't have a 1/4 inch jack.
