Hi... I'm brand new to metal detecting and I just purchased a Garrett Ace 400....I was doing bench test with several different coins to just familiarize myself with the machine... my problem is that I buried coins at a depth at 2" and my machine did not alert at all... Am I doing something wrong? Thanks for any advice ....

Hello dogdoc9,

What were some of the "air test" depth readings? Did the ID number match know US coins? Were the coins buried parallel to the surface or on edge (perpendicular)?

I believe even the cheapest detector you could buy reads a coin at 2". Please answer the questions above and one of us can hopefully diagnose the problem.
