I refuse to post a link as to what has been revealed as news.

Recent studies have revealed that Canines search and spin trying to find the perfect magnetic alignment in order to relieve themselves.

Like i'm gunna follow my rat catcher scruffy dog
with a pair of rods. What will the neighbors think!

Anyone with a 6 foot fence willing to test this theory

Thanks,

Craig

well in 58 years I have yet to discover that it matters where I relieve myself

Jeff, isn't it nap time yet? ROFL

the Colt's win energized me

Feed the dog stainless steel or brass metal filings and not ferrous metals.

If that doesn't work, try degaussing the pooch.

What, I didn't make this sh!t up

This is main stream news, as I found it!

Its just a little confusing as to how to grasp it, that's all.
Oh crap did I just say that.

Yes, you just said that.

Move the pooch slowly from the active coil for degauss, and make a run for it!

Somehow I feel that real smokey the cat could withstand a rather intensive interrogation not withstanding some missing fingers from the said interrogator.
That cat looks mean......

I'm not sure about that circular motion for dogs being very true. My dogs only circle when they are in a public park and off leash. My thought is it's more of a smell war than magnetism.
But I saw on animal planet that foxes in winter dive through snow to catch rodents using their acute hearing. Now for the magnetism part. they have much greater success of catching the pray when they face north. I think it was under 30% any other direction, but past 70% when facing north. The fox is not aware of this because they don't circle to face north to have a better chance at getting its meal.

Magnetic fields are very real, but there is no need to be aligned to squat.

After studying this phenomenon most of my life, I believe it's just an inborn trait to flatten weeds, sticks or grass first. Wouldn't want to get poked.

Before they lay down, the same little ritual is preformed.....seems obvious to me.

Dogs circle to look for snakes. Don't want to get bit you know where.

I've read somewhere dogs have a homing sense. That sounds magnetic to me. I also heard some dogs can detect an MFD discriminated signal line to a target. Believe it or not.

This is what Simbad was referring to - Very interesting.

Follows Camp Craig...I have "owned" the real Smokey three and a half years now. I "inherited" him when my brother died. He was pretty much feral. He is now a pet. He's been quite an expensive beast. Right now he's on the couch next to me and I'm allowed to pet him most of the time. I had another cat, he was so bad the first trip to vet for him the vet suggested I put him to sleep, he would chase people who came in my house. He attacked the security system guy once. Attacked anybody blonde. But I had him almost 17 years and he never gave ME a problem. But alas he died a few years back. Once I had a friend take him to the vets, I didn't know they could drop kick a doodie 10 feet. At the vets office to this day they refer to him as LEGEND!

I asked my dog why he does that and all he would tell me was Woof woof.

What a smartazz...

I should get a cat.

Yes, you should get a cat or two. I saw a cute picture the other day of a cardboard box with about 6 cats in it. The caption was 'crazy cat lady starter kit.'
