Doing something new with some of my coins, check it out!

Now, before this turns into some freakin debate thread on legality I'll stop you right there. This is not illegal, it is only illegal if my intent is to commit fraud IE turn a Quarter into a Half or a $1 into a $10 and spend it as currency or take a common date coin and alter it to look like a rare or valuable coin, like changing the date of it ( I am familiar with section 331 of title 18 of the united states code already so save you copying and pasting it here!) yada yada yada ect..... Besides all those machines that are ALL over the US and in every National Park and every other park in between that your kid can put his/her penny or nickel into and have it crushed into a park token or a button of some sort would be illegal too. So don't bother commenting if you wanna debate it.

Now, this is something that i found to be very cool and have taken up making these and selling them, just figured that I would show my friends on here and see what you thought about them or if any of you might be interested in buying one for your self or other. It is time consuming and def a skill that takes much practice ( my arm and fingers are killing me lol) I can make any State Quarter ( Silver or Clad) Half Dollars ( Silver or Clad) Foriegn coins ( there is a pic there of a Large English Penny) and am going to do Morgan and Peace Dollars too. Before anyone freaks out I AM NOT DOING ANY RARE OR KEY DATES!!! So please keep that in mind, I am only doing common dates nothing rare, unless you want to send it to me to make. So anyway, take a look at my pics ( sorry for the low quality pics) and tell me what you think? I became a charter member but am not sure about posting anything here about prices or stuff like that so I will make a for sale post in the charter member section? Not sure, I have to nose around the site and learn a little bit more. HH, Maverick.

I suggest going to the local coin shop and snooping through the foreign coin bin for clad, brass, or cupro-nickel coins with unique designs. You can generally get foreign coins quite cheap (like 12 for $1).

I plan on doing just that, the foreign coins have some really pretty designs on them! My friend brought me over another Large English Penny, a 66 Shilling and a new pence to make for him. HH, Maverick.

Do you save the silver you punch out of the middle of the coin? If you do enough you could melt it into a cool bar or something.

Yes I do, not sure what I'm going to do with it yet, need to get hooked up with a refiner that will buy all my punches and mess ups ( hope not to have many mess ups though).

Mav, those look GREAT!!!!
I was at a coin show a few weeks ago and those would have made you a small fortune. There was nothing like it there.
Let me know the cost of a 1957 Ben ring would be.

Really cool!

I work with a lady that has a Walker that her father gave her, it was his lucky pocket piece, that she had turned into a ring just like the ones you're making.

This is actually how I got into CRHing.... I started making rings and was looking for a cheaper way to aquire silver coins. Just as a side note, practicing on clad will not necessarily translate over to silver coins. The silver is so much softer that it will Crack and split VERY easily. The only way I found to avoid this is to work with a slightly bigger punched hole and work the ring considerably slower than u would a clad.

I'm really torn on this. I love the rings. I want a ring. But, I am having trouble condoning the destruction of a silver coin to have one made. The date I would most want is 1923. Dunno if I could consciously allow a Walker or SLQ of that date to be destroyed on my account.

I respect coins but, personally, I would not think of it as destroying. I would think of it as transforming. It's a way for that coin to "get back out there" rather than hiding in a dark lonely SDB.

I made my wedding band out of a 64 half. I have no idea how to make them with the words facing out like the way you did, (which is awesome). I just did the roll and tap on an anvil technique.

The reason I made my wedding band was two part, 1, I like coins and CRH. B, I wanted to be able to say my wedding band cost me 50 cents.

The rings you made look awesome!

I wish my wedding band only cost $0.50 lol I am actually making a Pennsylvania Silver State Quarter for one of my wife's customers on her mail route because she cannot wear gold and wants a Silver State Quarter for her wedding ring. HH, Maverick.

I'll probably get laughed at for saying this but I don't know what a Bitcoin is? Although if it does not stick to a magnet I can pretty much make a ring out of it. And yes I am giving you the finger but not intentionally lol. HH, maverick
