Doing something new with some of my coins, check it out!

Now, before this turns into some freakin debate thread on legality I'll stop you right there. This is not illegal, it is only illegal if my intent is to commit fraud IE turn a Quarter into a Half or a $1 into a $10 and spend it as currency or take a common date coin and alter it to look like a rare or valuable coin, like changing the date of it ( I am familiar with section 331 of title 18 of the united states code already so save you copying and pasting it here!) yada yada yada ect..... Besides all those machines that are ALL over the US and in every National Park and every other park in between that your kid can put his/her penny or nickel into and have it crushed into a park token or a button of some sort would be illegal too. So don't bother commenting if you wanna debate it.

Now, this is something that i found to be very cool and have taken up making these and selling them, just figured that I would show my friends on here and see what you thought about them or if any of you might be interested in buying one for your self or other. It is time consuming and def a skill that takes much practice ( my arm and fingers are killing me lol) I can make any State Quarter ( Silver or Clad) Half Dollars ( Silver or Clad) Foriegn coins ( there is a pic there of a Large English Penny) and am going to do Morgan and Peace Dollars too. Before anyone freaks out I AM NOT DOING ANY RARE OR KEY DATES!!! So please keep that in mind, I am only doing common dates nothing rare, unless you want to send it to me to make. So anyway, take a look at my pics ( sorry for the low quality pics) and tell me what you think? I became a charter member but am not sure about posting anything here about prices or stuff like that so I will make a for sale post in the charter member section? Not sure, I have to nose around the site and learn a little bit more. HH, Maverick.

I love those coin rings!! Those look wonderful!

When I was 13 (I'm now 66), a good friend of my dad's was in an artillery division in France during the "Great War" (WWI). He showed me a ring he made out of a silver French coin by hammering the outer edges (on the base of an inert 75mm projectile no less) until it became flattened to his liking. When that was done, he filed out the center of the coin. You could see the squished date and writing on the inside edge. . . I thought that was so cool.

You have taken "trench-art" coins a step further by literally "folding over" the coin so all details are preserved both inside and out. . . again, wonderful job!

Thinking on getting one myself. I have fat fingers. Size 11 or so. Is there a limit on how far you can stretch one ? For example would a quarter be too small and you need to use a half for the larger sizes ?

Hey BB, I can tell you this from experience, what you start with is what you'll end with, the crispest coin makes the nicest ring detail wise.... That being said, I have a couple of Barber halves here I'd love to make rings out of but they are not real crisp and I'm afraid I'd make a ring that I'm just not happy with and loose one of my few "found in the wild" Barbers also. I may just by a nice one though ( not too much money) and make me a ring out of one that is crisp to begin with. HH, Maverick.

When you get into the 11ish and up sizes I recomend using halves, I could do a quarter that size but it would most likely look pretty small on your hand and would loose some detail. HH, Maverick.

Hey MM, here is the Quarter next to the Walker, the Quarter came out at a size 8 1/2, that is as far as I feel comfortable stretching a Quarter, I might get to a 9, maybe. And here are some pics of some 64's 66 and the 41 42 Walkers and a gold dollar on top that I made ( I personally love the way the gold dollars come out). HH, Maverick.
