Dollar coins

So when asking for dollar coins what do I want to be asking for? I know my pickup bank has halves and dollars but in the vault. Have to try and make it there when the manager is there to open it. But what do I need to be asking for on dollars? I know they have the Presidential and Sacagawea ones.

Just ask for "big" dollar coins. I often embellish it by asking for "any of those big, gigantic, weird dollar coins".

This helps prime them for looking for anything unusual - they might pull out some silver eagles, you never know!

Is it less likely for them to have rolls of the big dollar coins? Because I think my bank mentioned having rolls of dollar coins. But a big one would be anything besides the Sacs and presidential ones I imagine? There is a size difference as well big being the former and Sacs being smaller.

A lot of the time, no matter how many ways I say "big" the tellers often pull out some Presidential/Sacajawea/Anthony dollars and think that's what I'm talking about. A lot of times I can clarify "No, not the small ones" or "not the brass ones". (I say Brass, not Gold; I don't want to discourage them from handing me any actual gold coins. :-) )

I ask for half dollars and non gold dollar coins. I end up with susan bs and Ikes.

I did have a teller show me a beautiful 1923 peace dollar that a guy deposited, but she wouldn't sell it no matter how hard I tried. I started at $20 and went up to 40 before I gave up on her.

It's a good idea to keep a prop Ike in your pocket so you can wave it when you ask for them.
