This was one of mine - was hitting a saltwater beach in Rhode Island
was finding a few pieces of gold & silver jewelry - coins from the early 1900's on up
I found a few musketballs and a silver colonial button - and then came up with this -

it's a colonial shoe buckle - 1700's
when I first found it - I thought nothing of it
and just dropped it in my pouch - did not realize
what I had till I got home - it was certainly an unexpected find
research told me that the British were encamped all around this area

Nice! I see it is black do you think it is silver? And are you going to try to clean it?

I got some implants in waist deep water?? They say these don't just fall out. Turned them over to the police.

oh shoe buckle is silver - I should have put - silver colonial shoe buckle
and yes I cleaned it and yes it is about half the size now - but still intact

WAS IT LOADED JOE?

Nice all pictures.

Casper, that shoe buckel's awesome.

Move over, Indiana Jones..I found the Holy Grail!:headbang:

Must have been a boat party out there , but only found this one cup.

Sound nearly blew off the headphones, and there it was, a bit of cup top laying in the mud. I thought it was part of a bracelet until I pulled it out.

I believe it's silver plated..it will enhance my spoon collection:laughing7:

Hey Casper did you hit one of them beaches i told you about. Harold

Very interesting thread!

I have scooped up a gold crown for someones tooth. It tested 16 kt. and I have a pic of it on the laptop at home.

I scooped a hypodermic needle just this morning. I don't have pics as I threw it in the trash. There was no way, it was going in my pouch. Carried the needle in my scoop to the trash and ditched it. Ruined my appetite to hunt for the remainder of today.

King Arthur would be proud. In my book, it's a banner find.

What a neat find! Beautiful!

It wasn't quite the beach, but it was at the nearby playset. I found a token for "Little Denmark Inc", I thought it was neat. Went home and looked it up...it's an adult joint for watching skin flicks... And it was from a whole nother state away. Weird.

I found this one day while doing some metal detecting, I'd like to know if anyone has any idea of what it's worth !? To be so old and aged the mother of pear in the middle looks brand new!!
