Anyone have any of these? Damaged and re-tipped.

This is a first for me , I have never seen anything like that before. Could it be a tool now? I was just thinking would it still have penetration power has a point:icon_scratch:By far a very cool find:notworthy:

That is an interesting find. What material is it made of? Is it a personal find?

I acquired this in a multiple piece trade from a friend in Colorado. Not sure of material.

I have several that resemble your example but I've always wrote them off as impact damage....gonna have to take another look at them.

It's sitting in a frame now, it's working days are over. :-) Judging from seeing so many clunky looking points, I would guess this would still penetrate very well. It's very thin.

Just look at the flaking at the break area. That will tell you if the impact break has been re-worked.

Never have seen anything like this in my life. Could it have been reworked and used as a hafted spokeshave? I've never heard of a hafted spokeshave. Is that even a possibility?

I've got one but not at that late of a stage it's pretty and unique nice !!!!!!!!!

Damaged and reworked to a tool. Very nice material

Yes, beautiful material, damaged and fashioned into a twin tipped point.

Never heard of them huh rock?

No, nc, this is not a spokeshave. But I don't know why a halfted one would be unreasonable. This was just a method that was used to re-tip a damaged point. I've seen examples just like this in Overstreets. You wouldn't need two points to make a spokeshave either. This has two distinct points flaked into it.

That is such a pretty honey color. Wow!

I have never held a twin tipped point but I do know they exist. I see where you are coming from on this piece. Do me a favor and take a picture of the whole tip area concentrating on the flaking. Just want to see the flaking around those tips.......thanks Quito.......What do you think the material is? Looks like Chalcedony stained or honey agate.JMO.....

It's only supposed to get up to minus 2 farenheight today so I will be pretty much housebound. I will get some better pics of the tip today for you Chris. It's pretty cool how they fashioned it. I must admit, I was a little skeptical about the point from the pictures I saw before the deal went down, thought it was just an odd impact fracture till I was able to better examine. But this wasn't the piece in the bunch that was going to make or break the deal. I traded a very nice Clovis for a few pieces. There was a very sweet Milnesand, and a couple Cody Complex piece's I was really interested in. As far a material, you could be right with either of your calls.
