I know the feeling, Ivan. Been there, done that. :( You got to start bending at the knees...then you wear your knees out. I haven't worn my knees out yet, but it's getting harder to get back up again. Wish you well on your MRI.

 RR

Sorry to hear this, Ivan.
Been there, done that. ONLY relief I found was from a heating pad.
Rest....try not to move :(

I know everybody don't have good luck with back surgery. I went through it some years ago. I have never regreted it one time. I had the MRI, and all. My surgery gave me relief that I thought I would never have. Don't get me wrong, It is scary, and I was scared. Leave it in Gods hands, and he will help you. We will be praying for you. By the was I picked up a penny today from the ground when I came out of a store. I never pass one up. Get well, and get back to detecting. God Bless.

Hello,...90% of the cases of back pain can simply be relieved by stretching, or yoga positions..Most pain comes from the muscles an/or ligaments pulling on one side causing pain on the other. The idea is to just get the them evenly balanced.

I have 2 disks out of place, 2 hernias, bone spurs, scoliosis, and sciatica. I have been to doctors galore, been told to have operations, take cortisone, etc., but they never told me to stretch. The one piece of advice I took was to rest , and NOT to move for 6 months. That sounded good to me, so I ordered in pizza, and watched TV in bed until I blew up 30 lbs. AND the pain only increased..

Taking things into my own hands, I stretched and lost weight..By stretching I mean touch the floor with knees locked, ever going further and further, very slow, with breathing. What I discovered was that , yes I had all these things wrong with my back, but the culprit was actually internal fat pushing against my nerves. Once I got down to my normal weight, the constant pain went away, the few minutes a day of stretching kept me loose, and I have not had any pain in 3 years after 10 years of suffering.

When I do have some pain, I simply stretch, and it goes away instantly.

As I don't know your exact problem, I wouldn't be so bold to suggest which stretch is best for you, but I hope my story helps in some way. Drugs, etc, only mask the problem.

Yes, stretching can be painful, but think of it this way..3 minutes of controllable pain while stretching, or constant pain forever?

If you want any pointers from my experience, please do not hesitate to ask.

Re: DR said "acute" back pain,I told him nuttin "cute" about it- its ugly as hell

my injury was caused by assisting my wife , who went into a "sugar crash" coma ( level was 42) during the middle of the night and rolled out of her bed in the middle of it , hitting the floor and breaking her femur (leg bone) --with all of her weight (shes a very large women) being bore by her neck (her chin was "hung up" on the edge of the nightstand and her body was slumped on the floor) the edge of the table was choking her badly -- she was out cold in a "lack of sugar coma" and thus could not aid me in anyway --so I had to reach under her arms and lift her up and move her back off the edge and lower her to the floor---to stop the chocking and take the strain off her neck -- while doing so however , I hurt my back badly (but most likely saved her life)-- I hobbled over called 911 and got the rescue guys to come -- I don't know if she would have lasted had I not pulled her off the table edge which was choking her . -- once they hooked her up with a IV she came around going "what happened ?"

ya i understand about back pain! my back was screwed up for years and i was at the doctor one day and he watched me walk and asked if i had any problems with my hips and i said a little so i had them x rayed and they were in very bad shape thus throwing my back off. so i had both of them replaced last year and my back and everything feels like a million bucks now. havent walked this well in probley25 years. if anyone has any hip/ knee/ back problems i highley recomend new england baptist hospital i think its the top in the country. thats were all the pro sports players go. good luck. willy.

Hey ivan.

Dont think the worst yet. I was lifting a large dog kennell with another guy and when we put it down i couldnt get back up. Never felt pain like it. Took me about 15 mins to get straight again and then i couldnt bend over. Went to the docs and had an xray and was all good but hard torn the lower ligaments and mussle in my lower back. only remedy was to lay down for about 2-3 weeks. After that it slowly came right over the next 4-6 months. So dont panic yet it may just be ligament damage and you wont need an op. One thing about that experience was i promised myself to bend at the knees, That pain sure was excruciating and every time i bend over it is pretty hard to forget that pain. I wish you all the best in your recovery and a heat pad does give some comfort too. take it easy and dont take your frustration out on anybody as you are going to get pretty darn frustrated with your limitations.

All the best Sasnz

Back pain is nothing to play with. Listen to the doctors. I've broken my back twice. The first time I fell off of a railcar at work. Broke it the second time while bull riding. I still have some bone chips floating around they want to remove, but they can wait until after the knee replacements. I found a penny at work yesterday, so keep in mind that eventually, it will get better.

Yeah, Acute lumbar strain, doesn't sound that bad now does it? I haven't detected since end of Dec. and haven't worked since early Jan. The closest I've come to detecting is going through my 2008 finds. Good luck Ivan. I start physical therapy Thursday.

Gods Speed on a speedy recovery!

BTW where is that shiny penny? I might drive down to pick it up, it will be the most anything I have found in weeks!

Re: DR said "acute" back pain,I told him nuttin "cute" about it- its ugly as hell

Geez and I was whining about my three blown disks when I torqued the lower spine a few degrees off center last fall. Sneezed yesterday and for once it didn't feel like my leg was getting blown apart. After that, I took some needle nose pliers and yanked all my nasal hair. And enjoyed the sneezing fit it brought on. Snuffed a bit of pepper as well!

See I finally quit therapy, tossed the pain pills and took to putting my feet in the air, got a crossbar mounted in a doorway here. Hang upside down on it for a little each day, pulling that compression apart. Used trees for that 25 years ago when I busted it up also. Was carrying two hundred pound steel coils at work last night, one in each hand, at a time. Felt GOOOOD!

But boy are my dogs screamin'! Darn flat feet.

Well here's to hoping all you get well and stay well, if not at least better as soon as you can.

And to Ivan, we used to go through all kinds of heck with our older one after she became insulin-dependent. Micro-managed every aspect of our lives around it. Turns out it was good practice for us nowadays as I'm type II myself but have almost beat it back to marginal. Hope you can help your wife get better at dealing with her situation as well!

Did you get a picture of that mem cent?

All kidding aside! Hope everything goes well and it's just muscle issues!
