So we took advantage of the balmy weather here in Massachusetts and went to hunt a partially drained pond near a park we hunt. As you would think, the bottom was littered broken glass, pull taps, bottle caps on other junk. However going slow pays off even with the 11โ€ coil. I pulled up 8 wheaties, some other clad, a cool token from Menters (1913-1954) a glass bottle stopper, a KGII (1755 I think) and a very small catholic medallion.

I was wondering if anyone has ever dug a medallion like this one, super thin and small. It has written โ€œ Congregation du saint enfant Jesus โ€œ on one side and โ€œ congregation pray for usโ€ on the other. Mind you, the town I live in is heavy Irish catholic and Roman Catholic and I dig a TON of religious stuff and I have never seen this one sooooooo if someone could enlighten me, that would be great.
Thanks for watching, GL&HH

Joe, that was a very nice assortment of finds. I really like the old Tokens and religious medallions. Best of luck to you and your hunting Pard's on your return to the pond. " The Return to the Pond"........sounds like the title to some horror movie. Lol we look forward to seeing pic's of your next round of finds. Go Getem'.

Big congrats on the KGII! That's one I'd like to find anywhere but especially in a public park!!! You need to pull the plug and detect the whole pond!

MA has a lot of old mill towns that once had ethnic neighborhoods. I grew up in a French neighborhood in Taunton in the 1950's - 60's and a medal in both French and English would not have been unusual (my first language was French and my kindergarten actually did not allow English to be spoken.)

It never occurred to me to hunt impoundments during the drawdowns for dam repairs - I was always more interested in the fish that were concentrated into a smaller area of water. Congrats on making great finds in the mud and muck!
