Dreary Day but... LONG POST modified

Went to a small beach this morning not expecting much. It did rain lightly but what the hey... I'm in the water getting wet anyway aren't I? No thunder or lightening. The water was cold but not bad. I was finding coins right off the bat. Strange, I've never found so many that fast before and especially not at this place. By the looks of them they had been in the water for a while too. OK I've drug this on long enough.

TODAY WAS MY DAY! (I think)

I got a hit and brought up a black ring. I though well this is a cheapo ring but a ring is a ring. Well maybe not. It is a black Titanium ring with two narrow stripes of gold. I did some research on them and found them ranging in price from 79.00 to 650.00. I have no idea what mine is worth.

I was feeling GOOD! For a change I was going to go home with a nice find. I kept going and pretty soon I got another hit which I thought was another pull tab. I had found several of those already. NOOOOOOOO It was another ring. This one was definitely junk I was sure but.... maybe not. I really had to strain my eyes and because of the way it looked - kind of pitted - I just wasn't sure. When I got home and got the magnifying glass out, it says 18 KT. Is it possible that a gold ring would be pitted? AND if this is a gold ring then could the diamond be real? I don't know about that I don't have a diamond tester. Well who cares? I like it anyway.

I don't know how you guys get such clear shots of the inside markings of your rings. I couldn't do it but I tried. I have a Kodak camera that is "supposed" to be a good one but it does not get real good tight closeups.

I ended up with a total of 91 cents and two rings.

I agree, HGE stands for Heavy Gold Electroplate.
Still beats a pulltab.

YEAH for MUMSZIE I knew good fortune would come your way. I would take them to a jeweler they can tell you if the diamond is real. S/B no charge. At least no charge here in Ohio. Anyway EP or GP mean elctro plate or gold plate as the previous post said it's plated. But still gold

Some of those titanium rings are even more expensive. I found one that a friend lost, was custom made and cost well over $1000.

I knew that a "real" gold ring wouldn't look like this one does but what the hey - it's still a ring and I'm a happy lady this morning. I also knew that HGE stood for heavy gold electroplate but didn't remember it. I told you guys I was dense! Sheesh! Thanks for the help identifying it anyway.

I know the feeling. I fired a nice 38 on the front nine playing golf Sunday and just when I thought I had it down, bam a 48 on the back nine holes!
