I dredge.
yes, I have seen snakes but only before I start. Snakes don't like the noise and vibration.
Never seen a water spider while dredging.
Snakes are cold blooded, they don't like cold anything.

Any more questions?

The only time I have seen snakes close to my dredge was when setting up for the day. Never seen a snake anywhere around while the dredge was running.

Here's a snake story for ya Bob,

A farmer in my area in the early 1900's had a fine herd of milk cows, but as the summer progressed, the milk they produced tapered off. He was out in the field trying to figure out what was wrong, and he noticed that the cows sought refuge from the heat of the day by standing in the knee deep slow moving creek in the pasture. He walked down for a closer look and saw dozens of snakes in the water suckling on the cows.

This was written in a local history book, and regarded as true.....interesting story anyway.
