Chance of a lifetime right here, right now. I'm from Alaska, currently in Ft.Worth Texas. You need 3/4 ton truck and 4 -7 weeks available for vacation. The spot is North of Boise on a public river. When I moved to Alaska in 2013 I stopped in Idaho to dredge and write an article for The Gold Prospector Magazine. Water was high and fast and it took 85 lbs of lead to keep me down. I only got halfway out to the gut of the river and got 1/4 oz a day for 3 days. I still have that gold and its getting melted down at the end of this season which is June 30- Sept 30.

My truck blew its motor. I've had 2 other people back out in 6 weeks. I no longer have time to get my camper and dredge from Alaska to Idaho. I bought another 5" dredge 2 weeks ago and have borrowed a nice 26' travel trailer to take with us. This year is the second worst drought year since 1896. Where I was dredging 13' down is now out of water but the gut is now workable in 4 feet of water! Whether you dive or not, if you have a truck you can get a cut of what is found, even if you are the sluice tender and camp cook. You can bring a spouse if you like. Need to leave yesterday... less than 2 months left to get it all. NO WHEELCHAIR/ARMCHAIR PROSPECTORS. This is extreme dredging and mining. Must be able to climb from highway down the embankment 150ft+ each day. I'm 62 and can handle it. LDMA/GPAA Lifetime Member

Damn...if I wasn't so long in the tooth with bad lungs, I'd take you up on your offer
just because it sounds like a great way to spend time on a river and away from
the maddening crowds. :occasion14:

I wish I didn't have so many obligations right now cause Id do it in a heartbeat. I lived in the Boise area before moving to Anchorage in the 60s

If I didn’t have a newborn at home I’d…. Ask the missus if she’d allow it! Low probability even then lol
Just tell her you're going gold mining and to set her mind back 175 years and go....

I know a spot on the Peninsula past Cooper Landing that requires a boat across the lake and panning and sluicing only that yields ounce+ a day but requires 3 mile walk through muck and creeks if you're up for an adventure next summer.
