If it's got a kids play area...Get-r-done. But always ask first.

Drive-ins in our area are a thing of the past. The old ones were all destroyed by Hurricane Carla back in '61. I did get to hunt the "Show Boat" drive-in my parents used to take us to when I was a kid, I remembered the playground well and I found several walking halves along with Benjamin Franklins, silver quarters and dimes, had a blast. There was one in Houston (Kings Road Drive-in) but the area is posted off limits, I hope to find the owner and ask for permission, they are some good hunting sites. John

yeah i hear ya. the only one still operating in ri is in my town. how ironic is that? lol. :tongue3:

I've hit a few...

I think it was the hardest ground I've ever tried to dig in short of concrete.

I always thought I'd find tons of change, but only found tons of crappe'.

Good luck and let us know how it goes!

MMMMMMMMM you would not by chance be talking about the rustic Drive-in on 146 would ya??

Ain't that the truth. Around here I think they spread everything from red dog to gravel to cinders & probably slag from the mills on the ground. And all those years
of that stuff working it's way into the ground , concrete might be easier to get thru.

Agreed! It seems like the ground was too hard packed (from being constantly driven over) for anything to be sunk in, other than beer bottle caps. I was very disappointed with my finds as well, although it seemed like such a promising idea.

I have been around drive-ins all my life I have worked at one for 26 years its gone now and so are all the good coins mostly silver :'( However I pulled quite a lot my self from there Buffalo nickels merc dimes war nickles etx. ;D

In my younger years I had pretty good luck at drive-ins.

lol

You laugh!

I developed quite a reputation with my many successes.

There were a great number of times when one could hear the squeals of delight when I found what I was seeking.

Although, those were hard times, there were many that tried to duplicate my techniques.

Some may call the drive-ins a field of dreams, me, I look at them as fields of triumph and glory.

Look, there's another nickle. :D
