Flying blind here, but the above French webpage appears to describe a drum (with sticks) having a similarly engraved maker's plate:
Maison fondée en 1812 / Gaillard & Loiselet / successeur / LYON-PARIS
The date for that one is listed as milieu 19e siècle "mid 19th century."
I didn't know that either. Apparently musettes were the most popular loaves to take into battle though... so much so that they made special bags for them. Look at this Soldier, who obviously loved them. http://www.olive-drab.com/od_soldiers_gear_ww2pack_m1936.phpIronSpike said:PBK said:http://www.inventaire.culture.gouv.fr/public/mistral/palissy_fr?ACTION=RETROUVER&FIELD_98=LOCA&VALUE_98=%20Damazan&NUMBER=5&GRP=0&REQ=((Damazan)%20%3ALOCA%20)&USRNAME=nobody&USRPWD=4%24%2534P&SPEC=1&SYN=1&IMLY=&MAX1=1&MAX2=1&MAX3=200&DOM=Tous

So if you order baguettes in France it's 'drumstick bread'. Cool never knew that.
No, I've never read that they did, but apparently they made really good musettes back in the day.IronSpike said:The French went into battle![]()
That might explain the French version of the Swiss Army knife![]()
