Hi all,

I found this coin at a local park today..my Prizm read it as a dime, but this "Loonie" came out instead:

I've never found one of these before, so I thought I'd share it with you along with a little info..apparently 1987 was the first year they were issued and they're composed of nickel and bronze.

Congrats! Nana ;)

Hey Natman up here in Canada find lot of those Loonies and even Twonies.
It makes for a great clad count.
Hope you find more.

Cool find.I get lots of them here in the great white north.Depending on the year they can ring up pretty weird sometimes.HH..Panz

Okay Natman, now your really starting to make me and my Prizm II envious....

Harry..

Neat coin Nat. Way to go.
I read your title and thought you were referring to ME. DOUG (is)a Loonie. :o

I dug a Toonie one time on a playground, first one I had found and still hoping to find more. Those guys in Canada finding all those $1 and $2 coins can make a killing on the clad counts!!

Yeah Jack, I didn't even know what it was until after I brought it home and cleaned it off..it was impossible to make out the writing on it because it was covered in a yellow residue that needed to be scoured off..must have been the bronze reaction to the soil.
