Looks like one of the Patriotic buttons from pre mid 1800s era. Here is a similar one I found a couple years ago, cuff size.

Don

Just checked Albert's book and yes, mine is a UU 132A and yours is a UU 133, in the banner it said E PLURIBUS UNUM. Your backmark might say RICH/COLOUR

So....Is it a loop shank or a drilled shank or what? I can't see it from here. That's why we need a pic of the back.

Eddie, he has no need to show the back, it IS a match in Albert's book UU-133...................

OK, I learned something today. I'll admit I've never looked at a button book so I don't know the first thing about them. What you're saying is that any button with that exact eagle is a UU133 no matter what the back mark is. I would have thought they would have assigned a different number for different back marks. Oh well, sorry, now I'll go back to sleep.

Your right you cant read it and we cant either lol. ;D In this case I guess the back maybe wasnt needed but its always best to post front and back as SOP. Eddie would have seen immediately that it wasnt a meddallion and it would have prevented any unnecessary guesses. We like to have as much information as possible to make the ID and myself I feel its becomes tiring constantly asking for pics of front and back. Thanks. Nice find. :icon_thumright: http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,259110.0.html

Good ID.

Good ID but IMO we dont ever want to discourage members from posting a pic of the back. Some of us work so hard to get proper pictures posted here (even if its not needed in this one isolated case). ;D 8). Is that a one piece cast brass shank?
