DUMP FIELD 2 - 1667 Token - UPDATED WITH ALL BUTTONS & CAPBADGES

Took a 1/2 from work as soon as the rain stopped. Sticky field but worth it. Usual aim (1 capbadge, 1 button).

Result:
0 new capbadge
1 new button - ROYAL ARMY MEDICAL CORP.

Best find:

Very Rare 17th century brass Half Penny Token. I am awaiting a response from an friend/book writer on how rare it is. Should help in his study. Nice condition as well ;D

Nice batch of finds.

If I were in England I'd go crazy hunting. New to you guys is the 1700's.

New but an important piece of social history. These tokens were produced illegally by shop keepers & the like. Try & find this token on the web. I bet you will not find another one like it? So for me & the guy I know who plots these for his forecoming book, they are exciting. I have already re-written history & proved the British Museum wrong on one such find :)

Re: DUMP FIELD 2 - 1667 Token

Can't read all of the lettering, but it looks as if it might be the 1667 token of William Reeve, "His Halfe [sic] Penny," of Buckden, Huntingdonshire. If so, it is listed on p. 76 of Seventeenth Century Tokens of the British Isles and Their Values by Michael Dickinson, and was valued at £50 at the time of the book's publication in 1986. No doubt it has appreciated considerably over the past two decades. Great find!

Lot of stuff for half a day's hunting.

Congrats on the 17th century brass Half Penny Token. And hope it helps out your mate in his research too.

Glad I got a chance to use it. Not a lot of 17th century tokens to ID here in the States! ;)

I thought it odd that you have this $100 book for tokens which I've never heard of turning up in the US. But glad you did.

Actually, it was a gift from a friend in the U.K., for whom I did some editorial work back in the late 1980's. You're right: it's pretty obscure over here.
