This afternoon I thought I would try something different by going to the other side of the field & trying for older stuff. This area has no military stuff but I did get a 500BC brooch before it was ploughed.

The first run down I had 3 Geo coins, one 1754 Farthing & 2 blanks. So I thought 'good start'. But then for nearly 2 hours all I had was 1 musket ball. Getting bored I said to myself 'this is the last run up & then 1 run back'. On this last but one run I had the 1853 Silver Sixpence. :)

I then went back over to the capbadge area & got a few buttons. One of which I think is Prussian?? Any ideas?

1 scrappy roman.

and bits...

You English tectorists are better than us Americans! Look at the old coins you dudes find! I don't think any American has found a coin that old on our turf! You are the very best!

As usual, those are some pretty nice digs! When are those artillery buttons from?

All the buttons are WWI.

Smallish - 18mm

Terrific finds! I would be happy with any ONE of those finds! Congrats.

I know you liked pulling that Six Pence out of the ground. I found an 1834 myself last year. Nice find. Ron

Nice finds Crusader! Where is the 500BC Brooch????? I hope it isn't pictured, LOL, I can't see it! The button (doubled headed Eagle), looks like an Austrian button, around the late 1700s to 1800s, probably not much later than 1801 to be closer. Did I ask where the brooch is? HH, Mike

It was found last year or so & was published as it proved there was an early settlement in an area which was previously unknown.
