I have a few caches lined up so I thought it was time to dust off the old Hays 2 Box. I added a red led that lights at about half signal return, about 4 signal strength. When I had it apart, I was amazed to see that the Al. metal trim around each of the boxes is the actual coil on each box. If you haven't used a 2 Box it is quite an experience. It is a complete manual setup. You have to use the connecting bolts to adjest ground balence on either side of the null. When I tested it out I set it to sensitive and wound up digging 2+' down for a piece of scrap iron 8"x2"x1/4". In the hunts I have lined up I don't want to be finding something that small so I will have to run at 1/2 sensitivy in low range. The great part is missing all the nails, bullets and cases. I think these old boxes last forever as long as they are solid state. The older Tube ones had the old wax caps. and tubes you might find hard to get.
