I agree (pretty sure I looked it up correctly). Of note is that it’s a raised mark in a depressed channel, which is usually a good sign that it isn’t post-civil war.

BOOM !!!
There you go Man.
Sorry I did not get back with you yesterday (tried about 8 but my Txt was set to 'finish Words' & kept picking the wrong words , I just about chunked it.' .

Your great condition Button is a beautiful site , & a Tough find these day's IMO.

It could have not come out much nicer ,( better the 'Horstman' come out with a damaged face than that Beauty).

Great in-sit-u Picture as well.

Thanks Joe G & Benz!!

Just got my copy of "American Military Button Makers And Dealers; Their Backmarks & Dates" in the mail today. Been waiting 11 days for it. A day earlier would have saved me the post.

And the button is almost a spot on match to the left image, middle row on Figure 9. I can't tell if mine has the apostrophe in the MF'G part. I'll just document it as 1850's.

Thanks again gentlemen.

I appreciate that bud!! Never had to use the pinpointer on that one. Just cut the plug & there she was. I always take pics as soon as I've detected an edge. Anyways, very happy to have located a pre CW button and in such good shape for ~160 years old.
