Hey Mike,

That shoulder belt plate is a nice find. Not often does one see a marked one like this one ("W.H. SMITH / BROOKLYN"). Most of my team lives over on the KY side of the river from you. Drop a line sometime.

i found these two items in the same area. i found them on an old farm site in southern Indiana, near the location where Morgans raiders came over the Ohio river. enjoy

Great, you got the pics up. I called that one right, when you told me in chats last night that it had a Eagle on it and Brooklyn on the back, i knew it had to be a W.H. Smith on the rest of the wording. I am thinking around 1858 when they made this paticular one.
Great Breast plate and Lock

Mike,
I am so jealous. Hoosier hunters are normally trapped too far north for Civil War goodies. That plate is awesome, I bet you did a double take when that came out of the ground.
I was apparently down your way two years ago for a car show. I read the Morgan Raiders signage and thought what a cool place to try to run down some history. Good job.

HH, Don
