Hey Guys, I found this last night. What better than an early firearm to make for a good hunt! I used to have a replica 38 Cal. colt navy revolver that I would shoot from time to time. This is similar with a shorter barrel obviously and poss. smaller caliber. The barrel is held to the rest of the gun with a wedge. Gonna go back later to search for the rest of it. I can see where the wedge would have been. I'm loading pics before and after scrubbing. Any thoughts? Good Hunting!

It looks like you've got some solid metal under all the crumblies.
Was thinking of leaving it as it is for display. Maybe to far gone to get a makers mark. lol, I liked finding it though.

Mine too. The stories they could tell. I'm satisfied that I can tell the type of pistol it was and how it loaded. I put it on here with the measurements, thinking by chance someone might have some more info on the type of pistol it was.

Looks more like an 1849 pocket model barrel assy. But if if it is it would be 31 caliber
That's what I came up with too. I don't find those every day. Thanks!
