✅ SOLVED Early token?

[Jyverb64]

I dug a couple coppers from the field yesterday morning and tooth picked them off this morning the one was a Canadian bank token but this one I had not seen before.

When I zoom in on the second pic, I think I can see a date at the bottom. 1856

[grasshopper]

Could it be some kind of counterfeit?

[HuntinDog]

That's Cool...
What size is it??
Could be a store token/civil war token.

[Rookster]

Nice find.Congrats

It looks like its probably a presidential token. I noticed they have backs that have the eagle like that.

19th Century Presidential Campaign Tokens/Medals

Yeah, looking again on google I see some gaming tokens that have a similar eagle reverse.

I think OP will be able to get an ID if they can clean a bit more to read the writing around the edge of the reverse

[Jyverb64]

It's the size of a large cent

What I see

But unless it's Gloves It doesn't fit

[Joe-Dirt]

Try a pencil rubbing, like a headstone

[bologna321]

I think I see "Where a Kid can be a Kid"

[Jyverb64]

I carefully wiped away a little dirt and now next to the date 1850 you can see the word store

[jeff of pa]

May be a Hard Times Token

I don't know what All years they were Minted

[Mackaydon]

Suggestion: Keep cleaning until the object is ID-ed.
The word 'store' probably rules out the object being a coin; now more likely a token.
Don.....

[jeff of pa]

Can you Confirm Date as 53, 56 or 58 ?

I Can't even Rule out 1850

the 85 in the Middle Looks pretty Obvious

last could be 3 or 8 or damage 6 or 0

[Bramblefind]

I suspected it was a 1850s era merchant token but I was focusing on New York tokens. I think though it could be a match for this one out of St. Louis--
