The problem you are faced with, moderators, is that for so very long there was the Rubber Room.
It had been here for years. You can disagree, but I know where the forum is archived on the web, so it is true.
Now that you have all of us folks who were allowed to discuss politics, religion, and the like have been forced out it will come out from time to time.
Yes, there is a link between the lifestyle of a treasure hunter and the ideals of the founding fathers of this country. Free speech and all.
Add to that the Yo-Yo mentality of "Yes you can discuss politics", "No you can't discuss politics","Yes you can discuss politics", "No you can't discuss politics","Yes you can discuss politics", "No you can't discuss politics","Yes you can discuss politics", "No you can't discuss politics","Yes you can discuss politics", "No you can't discuss politics","Yes you can discuss politics", "No you can't discuss politics","Yes you can discuss politics", "No you can't discuss politics","Yes you can discuss politics", "No you can't discuss politics","Yes you can discuss politics", "No you can't discuss politics","Yes you can discuss politics", "No you can't discuss politics" over the last several years (Marc couldn't make up his mind) and you have the problem you keep running into.
Yes the rules have changed, and seem more stable, but the policies invited the very people you are now trying to push out of the forum.
Perhaps the management wasn't aware of the past history of this forum. If they were, it would explain why politics is so strong in some here. And yes, politics IS related to what we do. Laws are made to restrict some of our efforts. Restrictions on metal detecting in some communities, claiming lands that were once open as now being a Federal Property thus removing it from use by treasure hunters working signs, and the list could go on.
The problem is self created, so why be so anal about it?
