There have been some awful bad opinions tossed out regarding some on-line artifact markets. In an attempt to get a better understanding of just what does get bought off e-bay or sight unseen (except for on-line pics) from other on-line sites, I think it would be a good idea if people would show what they have bought and tell what they have experienced buying from such sites. Show the good and bad ones so we can get an idea of just how bad it really is.

My main collecting area is KRF pieces from the Dakota's, I buy them after hands on examinations. I also like some of the other types from the surrounding greater North Central, and High Plains region. I buy those without handling, relying on other methods. I've bought and sold very much on the bay, and never had a ding on my feedback from any artifact I sold.

Since my collection has been accused of being heavily contaminated because I buy so much, I will show what I have of my computer finds, and they are about 90% from e-bay. And please, if anything looks fake, or even suspect please let me know, so I can get them out of here.

Way to back peddle and dodge the real issue, gator boy. I am looking for the fakes you said I had without seeing them. You talk about not being able to tell from pics, so how can you expect to be believable making determinations sight unseen. Now start another thread or stay on the topic you brought about with your wild accusations, or man up admit you may have made a mistake and I will hit the solved button.

This is pitiful man I didn't need photos to use statistics and a fair bit of knowledge.
How many times and in how many different ways does it need to be said that the photos aren't going to prove anything?
"Man up" that's hilarious.. You don't know me

I didn't think we were allowed to start threads just to attack other members. The only thing this thread has accomplished is to convince me not to buy any artifacts, thanks, quito .

So, let me see if I understand you here. When you are examining a particular collection, you think the wise way to tell the fakes in there is determined by your opinion and simple math? What were you saying was pitiful?

How many times do I have to ask how you can make an intelligent determination sight unseen? Oh yeah, now I know. For a guy like you, It's just simple math.

Lucky Me!!, and yes I do, so now I'm pushing the solved button

This was started to post fakes, and good pieces bought from e-bay, to see if the facts lined up with the rumors, and to defend my collection from an unfounded attack. This was started to be informational, and to give the guy making wild accusations sight un-seen a good opportunity to back up his manyassertions.

You are welcome viking, buying artifacts obviously isn't for everyone.

All this and Tom is walking around without a taint!

You guys ruined this cool site by constantly fighting over stupid stuff. What is the purpose of buying rocks off of the internet. Not really treasure if your not searching thru some muddy field or dried out stream bed for hours. Just click buy and instant treasure. You guys suck I am out!!

if that is your attitude why don't you think about the people that can't get out......maybe like a disabled veteran who got disabled protecting you and me

some of my best friends are like that.....they buy things for their love of the hobby.....and would go out and find artifacts on their own if they were able to

i give them personal finds and tell them stories which is rewarding to them (and myself) and are extremely thankful

i know a gentleman from mandan that has to rely on knapping and selling as he cannot drive or have a regular job.....and he marks everything he makes as repro.....and has never misrepresented anything

i am hoping now that you see what can be a few purposes for this

I dont think that is possible gatorboy.A taint is a very important part of the human anatomy. Its where your top and your bottom come together. It gives you structure and balance. All i can say is poor Tom.He should see about getting it replaced if possible.Well enough about toms taint have a good.day!!!
