Today, while searching for cannon fragments..........

http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/t...al-iron-3-smooth-bore-cannon-dug-today-3.html

, I dug this odd little guy. Everything that I dig in this field is OLD. I could see it being an epaulette or a watch fob, but I do not know. My age approximation is 1830-1850. The button is for reference, and is the size of a penny. Ideas welcomed.

I got two pictures, and it looks like a watch fob. When did pocket watches become available?

Looks like 1/2 half of a sash buckle to me.

Tim and Kuger are indeed correct. :icon_thumright:

This style of buckle is very late Victorian, around 1890's.
