So on my last few trips I have noticed that I am getting what I would call a crackling type sound from my equinox. Especially noticeable in the pinpoint mode. It sounds like maybe a hole in the speaker. I have tried a couple of different headphones so I know that not the problem. Anyone experience this before?

No, but your only course of action is to call Minelab.

Yep guess I’ll end up sending it in. Waiting on two pair of headphones I just sent in. They have a 10-14 day turnaround right now.

Call them first. They just might have a quick fix. Wouldn't bet on it, but you never know.

So you had headphones attached to the machine without sound issues???

You probably have dirt/sand in the speaker area. Which can cause a sound reverberation with the pieces of dirt in there?

I assume that you're using the headphone cord (not wireless)....and if so, then it sounds like you have poor connection in the headphone jack. I've had water get into mine, won't invade the machine but cases this same issue, which is why I ordered the Gray Ghost with a threaded waterproof connector. Also, I have had folks who bought 3.5mm to 1/4" adaptors so they could then use other makes of headphones, problem then becomes the extra weight of the heavier headphone cable on these other headphones that is too heavy for the machine's 3.5mm jack socket, which also causes the male to move around in female and lose connection.
