Hello. I currently own an Equinox 800. It has been great. However, I am thinking of upgrading to the 900. So this question for those of you that own a 900, but may have also owned an 800 as well.
I mainly do beach searching. When searching, things like pull tabs may come up as 13 or 14. A nickel will be about 11 or 12. Dimes and pennies will be in the low 20's and a quarter will be 29 or there about. It s very rare to get a signal above 29 or 30
I was just watching a video on the 900 and it was showing targets coming up in the 60's, 70's, 80's and even 90's.
So does the 900 register things differently than the 800?
Thanks

I don't own the 900, but did own the 800 for a couple years. What little I know, and what interested me about the 900, is that it supposedly rings up vdi numbers more in line with most detectors, from 0-99, where the 800 was more 0-32.
I never really got used to the low numbers on the 800, and what little I know, the 900 is 0-99. Hope this helps, and I'm sure somebody with more knowledge will be stopping by here...

Equinox 600/800 is -9 to +40. Nickels are 12,13

Equinox 700/900 is -19 to +99. Nickels are 25/26

Thank you. This does answer my question. It means if I do get the 900, I will have to relearn all my tone numbers and what they mean.

I agree, but it is easy to re- adjust yourself to that, However, me being me, I ended up just confusing myself a bit by switching back and forth between two detectors, the EQ 900 & the Nokta-Makro Legend. I don't know, I like them both. Sometimes I carry a nickel to throw down to just center myself with the one I'm using. (I also carry two pin-pointers, so I'm not your normal detector guy)
